International Coastal Clean-Up Day
Coastal Future Florida is proud to participate in International Coastal Cleanup Day by bringing students, community members, and volunteers together to help protect Sarasota’s coastal environment. Our cleanup will take place at two New College of Florida locations: behind College Hall and at the Caples Waterfront Campus. Volunteers will work together to remove litter and debris from the shoreline while learning more about the importance of protecting the Gulf Coast and the waters that connect our community. Through this event, CFF hopes to turn a day of service into an opportunity for education, community engagement, and meaningful action for the future of Sarasota’s coast.
Coastal Futures Initiative
The Coastal Futures Initiative is Coastal Future Florida’s educational and community outreach program connecting New College of Florida students, local high school students, professors, researchers, and community leaders around the future of Sarasota’s coast. Through hands-on activities and faculty-led lessons participants explore marine science, coastal policy, sustainable development, economics, history, and the relationship between healthy coastal environments and strong local communities. The initiative is designed to give students a deeper understanding of Sarasota’s coastal systems while encouraging them to become informed and engaged stewards of the region for generations to come.
